Kate Hudson in Versace: Versace won the night with these ladies, the first of whom looked stunning in a brilliant white gown that drew the eye to curves she doesn’t technically have. I would’ve left her hair down though, as the slicked-back look brought an unflattering emphasis to her ears.
Amy Adams in Versace: Critics are already slamming her “safe” choice, but I thought the cornflower blue made her hair pop and the multi-layered wrapped look hugged her slim figure in all the right places.
Jessica Chastain in Versace: I wasn’t sure I liked the metallic color choice at first, but she looked lovely in this plunging neckline with her side-swept mane. She wound up looking like a little firecracker. Beautiful.
Lorde in Narciso Rodriguez: Eesh. The only thing I liked about this ensemble was the bling. The 18-year-old nominee (for Mockingjay’s “Yellow Flicker Beat”) went for a conservative look that backfired by making her look twice her age. Those pants are in desperate need of a tailor! If she wanted tips for how to pull this off, she should’ve looked to Ms. Flawless herself, Emma Stone (in Lanvin), who looked laidback and gorgeous.
Kerry Washington in Mary Katrantzou: The Scandal star is a red hot resident of Shondaland, but this scaly two-toned monstrosity was a major misstep. The shoes don’t even match. Red carpet fashion: NOT handled!
