☆NSYNC jumps on the reunion bandwagon?

Social media was all a-flutter today with the news that ‘NSYNC plans to reunite on the VMA stage this coming Sunday. I must admit, the news gave me a little lift, too (ha, just kidding, I went craaazy). These boys were my second boy band obsession (the first were Hanson) and my first concert experience. What middle schooler didn’t have a crush on our dearly fro-tastic JT?

Timberlake is slated to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the ceremony and rumors started flying today that he will be joined for a performance by none other than his former bandmates JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. Forget the buzz surrounding Lady Gaga and Katy Perry’s competing performances, this just became the most anticipated event of the night. Still no official word that this is happening, but I think they have no choice after the nostalgia explosion happening everywhere. Well, for those of us who actually remember them. (Good grief, we’re not really that old, are we?)

’90s reunions have been all the rage lately (Backstreet’s back indeed), but one from ‘NSYNC was fairly improbable considering how busy their megastar frontman has been since the group put their pop to rest in the early ’00s. Hot on the tails of The 20/20 Experience with two movies coming down the pipeline, Justin’s up to his ears in success. I doubt the boys have shown any signs of jealousy over the years and I can’t wait to see them support their brother in person for a change.

The VMAs air Sunday at 9 on MTV, live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

What do you hope they’ll perform on Sunday?
As for me, if they do “Pop,” I will lose…my…mind. Or “It’s Gonna Be Me.” “Or “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” Or “Bye Bye Bye.” Or …

UPDATE:
IT WAS ALL CRUEL LIES. Rumors are sometimes just that, after all.
It still hurts like a bitch though.

UPDATE #2:
Wait, it IS happening? Stop toying with our emotions!
