Gleeks, prepare to Glam it up…

Adam was just starting to promote Trespassing; his set was from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and he still managed to infuse his performance with an infectious energy.

Ryan Murphy announced yesterday via Twitter that Adam Lambert will be joining the cast of Glee for season 5! Murphy’s always had a tendency to inject star power into his projects—past guests on Glee have included Neil Patrick Harris, Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Kate Hudson, and Sarah Jessica Parker. But after last season’s ratings drop, I wonder if it’s primarily being done to lure back those who may have given up on the Glee that was.

I was a hardcore Gleek during the second and third season; it was almost a scary obsession. However, even with the excitement of the New York City plotline, the show finally began to fall flat for me during season 4. My rejuvenated enthusiasm after this announcement is probably exactly what Murphy was going for.

Well, excellent choice, sir. Adam oozes charm—trust me, I’ve seen him live twice—and he is flawlessly talented. Incredibly genuine. Downright adorable. With a voice that will…not…quit.

Details haven’t been released yet on what exactly his character will be. He guest starred on Pretty Little Liars last year as himself, so it remains to be seen if he does the same here or steps into a whole new role. I’m more interested to find out if he’ll appear in New York or Lima. How about you?

Glee returns to FOX Thursday, September 19 at 9 p.m.
